Baron de Redé

Baron Alexis de Rede in St.-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, 1971

I have written before about Parisian countesses and in the same circle we find man of leisure, man of style Baron de Redé, a self-proclaimed aesthete. A Swiss born graduate of Le Rosey, he considered his noblesse oblige to give aristocratic style back to the world. He supervised the restoration of the Hotel Lambert in Paris and then utilized it to host the most fashionable parties of the moment, most notably Bal oriental in 1969. He supported both fashion and art, commissioning YSL to create party headdresses and initiating a fine art fund called Artemis.

Above the Bal oriental and below the Hotel Lambert now the Paris residence of Baron Guy de Rothschild.
